TECHNICAL/FINANCIAL TEAM

Jerry McHugh, Jr., President/Owner -   Jerry's 45-year career in the oil and gas industry has been exclusively in the San Juan Basin.   He has worked in a variety of roles, gaining extensive oil and gas knowledge and expertise from exploration and leasing to project formation, drilling/completing, and production of new gas and oil reserves.

After graduating from Colorado College in 1980, Jerry started working for Dugan Production in land and regulatory.   Tom Dugan was a remarkable boss. This was a go-go time during which there was a U.S. natural gas shortfall, resulting in intensive Dakota and Mesaverde infill drilling.   Later, Jerry worked at Nassau Resources with another remarkable boss, his father, Jerome McHugh, Sr.. Jerry worked in exploration, land, and gas marketing, which was at start natural gas deregulation.   At this time the advent of Fruitland coalbed methane drilling commenced, and Jerry fostered Nassau's foray into exploration and development of the Fruitland Carracas Canyon Unit.  Jerry founded San Juan Resources, Inc. ("SJR") in 1990. This was a very slow time--also a good time to buy oil and gas leases.    SJR acquired and started operating wells in the Aztec, NM area. SJR drilled a number of Dakota/Mesaverde wells in the early 2000's, when U.S. natural gas production was waning.    Today SJR operates 40 wells and has a variety of interests in non-operated production.  Since 2009, SJR has acquired over 45,000 acres in the San Juan Basin. Jerry has created ground floor exploration and drilling projects by acquiring tough-to-get leases.  SJR has been working through regulatory to get projects ready-to-drill.  SJR has two Mancos Shale drilling projects, one in the oil window in Lindrith (25,000 acres) and the other in the Carson National Forest (7500 acres)  In 2020 Jerry created and hosts a monthly San Juan Energy IQ podcast where he promotes dialogue on a variety of energy topics with invited guests.  Jerry has put his curiosity out there to increase his, and our knowledge and understanding of energy from the San Juan and across the World.  Jerry is gratefully married to Stacy and has five children. He lives in Denver and outside of work enjoys travel, golf, cycling, skiing, swimming, and other outdoor activities.
