Jerry McHugh, Jr. is passionate about the oil and gas industry and that is reflected by his work in the San Juan Basin. Jerry has been involved in the oil and gas business since 1976. His career started in his college years with summer jobs in the field. Following graduation from Colorado College in 1980, his first job was working in the exploration department as a field landman for a dominant San Juan Basin independent oil and gas company. In 1983 Jerry went to work for Nassau Resources. His duties involved leasing, drilling, and supervision of a large coal-seam field in the Carson National Forest, New Mexico, among other drilling projects. Jerry served as operations vice-president and president of Nassau.
In 1990 Jerry formed San Juan Resources, Inc. and has built the company to what it is today---a vibrant, forward moving independent natural gas and oil producer. San Juan Resources’ primary focus is exploration, drilling, and production in the San Juan Basin.
Jerry participates in several industry associations such as the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico, of which he is a past board member; Western Energy Alliance (fka Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States), and Independent Petroleum Association of America.
